I realized tonight that I, once again, haven’t been doing a good job of updating this blog. Maybe I should fire myself
.
This past Saturday, on one of the hottest days of the year, a group of walkers took part in the Third Annual Kelby International Walk, We walked through Glendale Cemetery located in downtown Akron. Thanks to the great staff at Glendale we also were delighted to be able to spend time in the Civil War Chapel that is just inside the gates. You should take a look at some of the images now online at our Flickr Group!
Afterwards a group got together at our favorite eating spot, The Lockview Restaurant to have great grilled cheese sandwiches and talk about the experience.
One thing that came up was that folks would like to do more walks. That’s good. We are happy that people are enjoying the walks we’ve put together. We are hoping to plan a walk this fall in the Cleveland Flats but I sense that’s not soon enough for many.
So far we’ve done our walks through pre-registration so we have a handle on who will be taking part. Problem with that is it takes a lot of time to keep track of everyone so another way to do walks is possible. We announce a time, date and place and that’s it. Whoever shows up for the walk takes part. Many walks throughout the country are done this way and I know from talking to other walk leaders that they are generally well attended walks.
If anyone has thoughts on this we’d love to hear from you but I believe that we will soon announce another walk and try it out this way.
